New Interim Executive Director appointed for Momentum One Zero

Dr Stephen McCabe has been appointed Interim Executive Director of Momentum One Zero, a £70m innovation centre being delivered by Queen’s University under Belfast Region City Deal.

Momentum One Zero*, is a key component of the University's transformative £230 million programme of innovation which will bring social and economic benefits across Northern Ireland and beyond.

The innovation centre aims to revolutionise the digital landscape of Northern Ireland by building on the capabilities and building on the expertise of the Institute of Electronics, Communications, and Information Technology (ECIT) within a new model of operation.

Dr McCabe, previously the Head of Project Delivery for Momentum One Zero, brings extensive experience from his roles in research, policy development, and project design across academia, industry, and government. His appointment comes during a crucial stage in the project's journey towards accelerating digital innovation in cybersecurity, digital health, and agri-food sectors, among others.

David Quinn, Executive Director of the Belfast Region City Deal at Queen’s, said: "Dr McCabe's leadership comes at a very important stage of evolution for Momentum One Zero and all of our City Deal Innovation Centres. His understanding of the innovation ecosystems and his deep commitment to collaborative success with our partners are vital as we work to fulfil our economic vision for Northern Ireland."

Under Stephen’s leadership, Momentum One Zero anticipates significant growth in its team of experts, enabling new job creation, while fostering further collaborations, and initiating the construction of new state-of-the art facilities.
