Strategic Partnerships

After a number of collaborative research and innovation successes, company and university interests are often aligned to the extent that they enter a strategic partnership – this may take a number of forms, but will often involve a Participation Agreement where the company part fund research translation and innovation on an ongoing basis in a synergistic relationship.

Innovation Programmes

We have a strong track record in externally focused innovation.  We partnered in the delivery of the London Office for Rapid Cyber Advancement (LORCA), a £13.5m UK Government funded initiative (LORCA achievements are outlined in the Director’s statement).  CSIT continues to work with Plexal and Deloitte to deliver on a UK Government funded follow on programme “CyberRunway”.

Momentum One Zero continues to expand on this work, building relationships with government departments and funders that operate outside of the Cyber Security sector and identifying where we can tailor similar types of engineering-supported innovation programmes that will seek to achieve the levels of impact required to deliver for partners and gain full benefit for the UK economy.

Co-location

Co-locating with us in the Momentum One Zero building brings a range of benefits.

  • Managed/supported access to equipment and facilities
  • Be 'in the room' for opportunities
  • Bookable space for meetings, workshops and events/conferences
  • Demonstrator space
  • Co-location with innovative researchers and organisations in a modern collaborative workspace with associated amenities

We are currently seeking companies and other organisations to co-locate with us and be a part of an exciting new digital innovation ecosystem in Belfast, in preparation for the opening of our new building. If you are interested in co-location, you can contact us here.

Knowledge Transfer partnerships (KTPs)

KTPs are essentially a government-subsidised three-way partnership involving a business, a high-quality graduate, and a University. The KTP scheme helps businesses in the UK to innovate and grow. It does this by linking them with an academic or research organisation, and a graduate. A KTP provides grant money to enable a business to bring in new skills and the latest academic thinking to deliver a specific, strategic innovation project through a knowledge-based partnership.

The academic partner helps to develop the project, provide academic input, and recruit a suitable graduate (KTP Associate). Universities act as the employer of the associate, who then works at the business for the majority of the project. The scheme can last between 12 and 36 months, depending on what the project is, and the needs of the business.
