Queen’s Communities and Place Progress Report 2021-2023

It is a pleasure to share the outstanding progress made by the QCAP initiative over its first 2 years. QCAP has played a central role in bringing to life Queen's ambitious civic and social responsibility agenda.

Activity over Phase One has tangibly demonstrated how we have worked in partnership with communities to deliver impactful and relevant research, addressing the pressing issues that have been highlighted by them.  In doing so, we have also connected academic and professional services colleagues across disciplines within QUB, nationally, across Europe and with our US colleagues in Chicago and Nashville.

This outline of initiatives and activities undertaken during Phase One displays the development across all of our QCAP Dimensions of Place relevant to  mental health equity, social and  economic sustainability and education and skills. Overall, Phase One has been a highly productive and rewarding period for QCAP and I wish to thank our talented researchers, dedicated academic staff leads, our generous funders and external partners who made this work possible. As we welcome the restoration of power sharing to Stormont we are excited by QCAP’s potential to catalyse meaningful scholarship that creates positive change and research evidence of value to local policy. Guided by our community engagement and Social Charter and by QUB Strategy 2030, we are confident we will continue to make valued contributions to academic discourse and community wellbeing.

To learn more about specific accomplishments that defined Phase One please contact team members via our social media and website. It has been a privilege to lead this exceptional community of scholars and community leaders and residents. We look forward to our continued collective success in the many years ahead.
