RACIAL EQUITY CHAMPIONS NETWORK
A Racial Equity Champions Network has been established at Queen’s to support the University in its work on REC, and racial inequality more broadly. The network is made up of staff from all of our Schools and Directorates who are passionate about advancing race equality, and have knowledge and expertise in this area.
At least one co-Champion from each area attends Network meetings enabling institution-wide connectivity and a collaborative approach. Our REC Champions:
- act as advocates for the University’s Racial Equity programme, promoting and raising awareness of racial equity issues within Schools/Directorates.
- act as a conduit between their local area and the Network by providing feedback and disseminating information on activities at local level and across the university.
- meet regularly with local Senior Management Teams (or equivalent) to support and implement good practice in racial equity.
- engage with education aligned with diversifying the curriculum, reviewing data on staff and student populations in Schools/Directorates, and feeding into institutional culture.
- celebrate diversity locally and engage with staff and students on Racial Equity events and activities across the university.
- contribute to work on the Advance HE Race Equality Charter (REC) application and development of action plan.
- engage with relevant staff networks.
